It was fun to search for Hello Kitty on the bus. Since there was sightseeing from the bus window, the reserved seats were all in the front of the bus. Built in 1589 by Mori Terumoto, the castle was almost completely destroyed by the atomic blast in 1945 and was reconstructed in 1958. I got off the bus and followed the tour guide to the Atomic Bomb Dome.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5876\" src=\"https:\/\/japanbusonline.com\/bus-repo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DSCF0728.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\"><\/p>\n<p>The Atomic Bomb Dome, formerly the Hiroshima Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, was a stylish building at that time. At 1945, the building was destroyed by the world&#8217;s first atomic bomb exploded at an altitude of about 160 meters. Currently, it is a tranquil green space but it was once the city\u2019s busiest district before the explosion.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5888\" src=\"https:\/\/japanbusonline.com\/bus-repo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DSCF0744.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"398\" srcset=\"https:\/\/japanbusonline.com\/bus-repo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DSCF0744.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/japanbusonline.com\/bus-repo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/DSCF0744-300x199.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was the Atomic Bomb Dome seen from the Park. You can compare and see how extensive the damage was with a photo showing the original appearance of the building. The tour guide also gave us a detailed explanation on the place where the atomic bomb exploded.<\/p>\n<p>I learned about the atomic explosion in my history class and heard about its tragedy. But I couldn\u2019t imagine how terrible it was knowing that the bomb exploded at 600m above the ground, which was nearly the height of Tokyo Skytree. Through exhibition of photos and materials, belongings left by victims, testimonies of survivors, the Museum conveys to the world the devastation that the a-bomb caused. The history of Hiroshima dealing with a-bomb exposure was also presented in picture panels. Since it was a lunch box, it was up to me to enjoy my lunch at any moment, whether in the bus, or in the ferry later on, or in Miyajima. As I was getting hungry, I took my lunch just right after it was served.
