How It Works
1. Purchase a voucher for TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET
  Purchase your voucher for a TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET(2-Day Pass or 3 -Day Pass) online at https://japanbusonline.com/Tohoku
2. Reserve your bus routes you wish to board
  Make a reservation for the bus service you wish to board in advance online at https://japanbusonline.com/
  Please enter your voucher code which you received via e-mail to book a bus service.
 Note that 16 routes needs an advance reservation, while other 85 routes does not need reservations. Please   check which bus routes need an advanced reservations from following Usable Routes.

3. Exchange your voucher for TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET

Exchange your voucher for a  TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET at designated ticket offices after you purchase your “ VOUCHER” through Japan Bus Online Website. Your passport must be presented when you exchange your voucher you receive via e-mail.

Please check the designated ticket offices where you can exchange your voucher for a Tohoku Highway Bus Ticket to ride buses.

 TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET can be used for bus services which has the below stickers on the front window screen.
5. Get on board
Please present  your TOHOKU HIGHWAY BUS TICKET and your passport to a bus driver prior to boarding. E-ticket must be presented also, if you have reserved bus services online. E-ticket will be sent to your e-mail address you used to book a ticket via Japan Bus Online Website.
Note: Please tear off the ticket on the left side of the 2-Day Pass or 3-Day Pass, and put the torn portion of the ticket into the farebox.  
           
Important Notices
* These tickets can only be used by travelers with foreign passports. Please show your ticket and passport to the driver when getting on and off. Then tear off a ticket and placing it in the ticket box inside the bus.
* No refund is accepted even if the bus services are cancelled or delayed due to any accident, weather, etc.
* Lost or stolen tickets cannot be reissued.
* Other conditions on usage are in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of bus operating companies and the laws of Japan.
* A ticket with expired valid date cannot be used to board a bus
* If the ticket is used by anyone other than the designated user or in case of any other improper use, the ticket will be invalid and the holder will be asked to pay double the regular fare for the trip taken.

* Please make sure to cancel your reservations via “ Manage my Booking” page of Japan Bus Online Website, if you decide not to travel on the reserved bus service.

*You are not entitled to request a refund once a reservation has been made or/and exchanged your voucher for Tohoku Highway Bus Ticket.

*To refund your voucher, a cancellation fee, JPY 500 per ticket will be charged. Please request a refund via " Refund my Voucher" page of Japan Bus Online.

Tohoku Attractions

Aomori 

Hirosaki Castle 

Hirosaki Castle was constructed in 1611 by the Tsugaru clan, and it is a three-story castle tower located in Hirosaki Park. This Castle is one of the famous and popular cherry blossom viewing locations in the Tohoku Region with more than 2700 its trees In late-March to April when the trees are in bloom, thousands of visitors come for Hanami, Cherry blossom viewing. In February, Hirosaki Castle Snow Lantern Festival takes place attracting visitors with approximately 200 snow lanterns and 300 miniature igloos(kamakura) light up the winter night.






Iwate

Hiraizumi 

Hiraizumi is a beautiful town located in the southern part of Iwate where used to be a political and cultural center in northern Japan under the administration of the Oshu Fujiwara dynasty in the eleventh and twelfth centuries. 
As the first site in Tohoku to be designated as a World Heritage in 2011, Hiraizumi is an essential stop for Tohoku Travelers. There are various temples, gardens, precious historical sites and cultural prosperities in the area based on thought of Pure Land Buddhism.. Its rich history have been preserved at Konjikido Golden Hall in the Chusonji Temple that is covered in gold leaf both inside and outside apart from its roof.






Akita

Nyuto Onsen

Nyuto Onsen-kyo Hot Spring Village is located in the Towada-Hachimantai National Park in Akita Prefecture. Nyuto Hot Spring Village consists of seven different spas located around the same mountain, and they all have own spring sources. You can escape from the busy life and you feel like you are far away from the rest of the world when you are here.






Miyagi

Kira Kira Don Rice Bowl

Miyagi prefecture has three leading fishing ports: Kesennuma, Ishinomaki and Shiogama where an abundant of fresh seafood are caught all year round. Kira Kira Don is filled the bounty of the Minami Sanriku Sea that are some different kinds of fish and/or shell depending on the season, which gives you the chance to enjoy different varieties of seafood in one meal. Yamagata

Snow Monsters of Zao

Mount Zao is a volcanic mountain lies between Yamagata and Miyagi Prefectures. Zao is only a few places in Japan that you can see the trees glazed with ice and snow creating giant “snow monsters”(frozen trees).  Also, it is one of the most famous and traditional skiing and snowboarding resorts in Japan as well as a hot spring, Zao Onsen, which contains high amount of acidic thermal waters. In summer, the mountain attracts many tourists for its beautiful emerald green Okama crater Lake. 






Fukushima

Lake Inawashiro

Lake Inawashiro-ko, located almost in the center of Fukushima Prefecture, is the main entrance to Bandai-Asahi National Park, and is also called Lake Tenkyo-ko, or heaven's mirror lake as its surface reflects the shape of Mt. Bandai-like a heavenly mirror. The lake offers all-year-round enjoyment, including boat tours, migrating swan watching, skiing, water skiing, boardsailing, fishing and camping by the lakeshore.
