About the Tokyo–Nagaoka–Niigata Line
The route is jointly operated by Seibu Bus, Niigata Kotsu, and Echigo Kotsu, offering both daytime and overnight services. Buses depart from five terminals across Tokyo and Saitama, including Busta Shinjuku and Ikebukuro East Exit, and stop at 12 destinations in Niigata Prefecture.

How to Board at Busta Shinjuku
If you’re boarding from Busta Shinjuku, here’s how to find the departure area:
From JR Shinjuku Station, exit via the South Exit or New South Exit.
Cross the street and you’ll see the “Busta Shinjuku” sign.
The terminal is located on the 4th floor—just follow the signs and take the escalator.
The B4 gate for the Nagaoka/Niigata-bound bus is located right next to the information counter. 
It’s very easy to find and well signposted.
Onboard Facilities

Large items such as suitcases are stored under the bus before departure.
Smaller bags and backpacks can be kept in the overhead compartment or beside your seat.

My Bus Experience
I arrived about 10 minutes before departure, and the bus left right on schedule at 10:25 AM. Since it was a weekend, the bus was quite full, so booking early is recommended, especially during busy seasons.
The bus made two rest stops: Kamisato Service Area – approximately 15 minutes. A large and lively stop with many food and souvenir options.
Echigo-Kawaguchi Service Area – approximately 15 minutes. Smaller, but features a viewing deck with beautiful Niigata scenery.
After stopping at several local stops including Uonuma and Nagaoka North, the bus arrived at Niigata Station right on time at 4:17 PM. It was a smooth and comfortable ride from start to finish.

A long-established local shop famous for Shinjo, a traditional fishcake made from minced fish mixed with yam and egg white, then steamed and fried.
