How to Get from Hiroshima Station to Kamiyacho-nishi

“Here is a photo guide showing how to get from Hiroshima Station to Kamiyacho-nishi, the nearest tram stop to Hiroshima Bus Center.”

広島バスセンター行き方

It takes approximately 15 minutes by tram from Hiroshima Station to Kamiyacho-nishi.

However, trams can be delayed due to traffic congestion and traffic signals, so if you have a reserved highway bus, we recommend leaving Hiroshima Station at least one hour before your scheduled departure time.

STEP 1. Head to the tram stop

広島バスセンター行き方

After exiting the JR ticket gates, the tram stop, operated by Hiroshima Electric Railway (commonly known as “Hiroden”), is located to the front-right.

広島バスセンター行き方

Walk along the connecting passage and you will see the tram stop.

広島駅

In the past, some visitors found it difficult to find the tram stop from the JR ticket gates. However, since August 3, 2025, the tram stop has been relocated to the same 2nd-floor level as the JR ticket gates, making the transfer much easier to understand.

STEP 2. Take Tram No. 2 or No. 6

The destination of each tram is indicated by a number.

広島駅案内図

Only Tram No. 2 and No. 6 go to Kamiyacho-nishi. Be careful, as the other routes do not stop there.

You can also take Tram No. 1 toward Ujina and get off at Kamiyacho-higashi, which is also within walking distance of Hiroshima Bus Center. *This route is omitted here.*

STEP 3. Get off at Kamiyacho-nishi Tram Stop

After getting off at Kamiyacho-nishi Tram Stop, follow the directions in the next section, “How to Get from Kamiyacho-nishi Tram Stop to Hiroshima Bus Center.”

[Reference] There is also a way to get there without taking the tram

広島駅

There are two ways to travel from Hiroshima Station to Hiroshima Bus Center: by tram or by local bus.

Local buses also operate directly to Hiroshima Bus Center. These buses stop on the same 3rd-floor level as the highway buses.

If you have arrived at Hiroshima Station by highway bus or are carrying a lot of luggage, taking a local bus may be worth considering.

How to Get from Kamiyacho-nishi to Hiroshima Bus Center

広島バスセンター

There are two ways to get from Kamiyacho-nishi Tram Stop to Hiroshima Bus Center: “the route across the street” and “the underground passage.”

Following the photos will make it easier to find your way, even if it is your first time visiting.

Route A: Cross the street and head to the bus center (recommended during SOGO’s business hours)

広島バスセンター

After arriving at Kamiyacho-nishi, if you are coming from Hiroshima Station, head toward the front of the tram. If you are coming from Miyajima-guchi, head toward the rear of the tram.

Cross the pedestrian crossing on the right and you will arrive at Hiroshima SOGO, where Hiroshima Bus Center is located. Enter the building and head to the 3rd floor, where Hiroshima Bus Center is located.

Route B: Use the underground passage (available even outside business hours)

Hiroshima SOGO is closed outside its business hours, so you cannot pass through the building. In this case, use Route B below.

STEP 1. Enter the underground passage

広島バスセンター行き方

At the end of the Kamiyacho-nishi tram platform, there is an entrance to the underground passage connected to the underground shopping area “Kamiyacho Shareo.”

広島バスセンター行き方

After entering the underground passage, continue along the passage.

STEP 2. Turn left at the circular area and head toward Central Exit 8

広島バスセンター行き方

As you continue through the passage, you will reach a circular area. From there, turn left and look for “Central Exit 8.”

There is also a Hiroshima Bus Center sign next to Central Exit 8, so use it as a landmark.

STEP 3. Take the escalator to the 3rd floor

広島バスセンター行き方

Near Central Exit 8, take the escalator upward. On your left, you will see another escalator marked “Bus Stops.”

広島バスセンター行き方

Take this escalator and you will arrive in front of the escalator directly connected to Hiroshima Bus Center.

広島バスセンター

STEP 4. Arrive at Hiroshima Bus Center

広島バスセンター

Once you arrive at Hiroshima Bus Center, first check the electronic departure boards and information signs to find your bus stop.

Also check the bus name, destination, departure time, and other information shown on your booking confirmation email or ticket.

4 Tips to Avoid Mistakes When Finding Your Bus Stop

広島バスセンター
  • Check the “bus name,” “destination,” and “departure time” shown in your reservation confirmation email.

  • Check the electronic departure board and information signs inside the terminal.

  • If you are unsure, ask a staff member at the counter or boarding area.

  • Arrive at your boarding platform **10–15 minutes before departure.**

I have personally gotten confused about the boarding platform in the past and panicked a little, but asking a staff member helped me find the right bus in time.

Overnight buses are especially important to check carefully because several buses may depart around the same time. Don’t assume that you have the right bus just because the destination is the same. Make sure to check the bus operator and bus name as well.

4 Things to Keep in Mind When Using Hiroshima Bus Center

広島バスセンター

Keep the following four points in mind when using Hiroshima Bus Center.

① Avoid arriving just before departure

広島バスセンター

Highway buses generally depart on schedule.

Even the walk from Kamiyacho-nishi to the correct area inside the terminal can take nearly 10 minutes for first-time visitors. If this is your first time using the terminal, we recommend arriving 20–30 minutes before departure.

I also used Hiroshima Bus Center for the first time and found myself taking a little time to locate the boarding platform and food court.

② Bus stops may be changed on the day

The boarding platform shown when you make your reservation may be changed depending on the operating situation on the day.

After arriving, always check the latest information on the information boards and electronic departure displays.

There may also be several buses arriving around the same time. If you cannot see your bus, it may actually be parked just before or after the expected location.

If you are unsure, asking a staff member is the quickest solution.

③ Be aware of nearby facility opening hours when taking an overnight bus

Depending on the departure time of your overnight bus, convenience stores and restaurants may already be closed.

We recommend purchasing drinks, snacks, motion sickness medicine, charging cables, and other necessities before the shops close.

④ Check your route if you have large luggage

If you are traveling with a large suitcase, using an elevator or escalator may be easier than using stairs.

Checking your route in advance can make your journey much easier on the day.
