Togakushi Jinja Shrine
A shrine marking 2,000 years of history since construction. This shrine compound, composed of five shrines, was built at the foot of the sacred Mt. Togakushi. It was founded long ago in the days of myth, when the Ama-no-Iwato flew to this spot and took the form it has now (Mt. Togakushi), and founded shrine around itself. The shrines history stretches back over 2,000 years.
Other sightseeing spots nearby include the Cedar Tree Avenue and Togakushi Ninja Museum which are within walking distance from the upper shrine.

Zenkoji temple
Zenkoji temple, with the Amida Triad Sharing One Halo statue as its main object of worship, was built around 1,400 years ago. It has long served as a center of faith and place of worship for the masses, where they connect with the Amida Buddha, the temple’s principal deity.

Obuse
A town that flourished as a strategic crossroad of East and West during the Edo Period, Obuse still has its Kurazukuri (warehouse-style) buildings. Original paintings and other works by Hokusai, created during the famed artist’s later years in Obuse, are housed in the Hokusai Museum.
