Nihondaira
Nihondaira was selected as one of the top 100 tourist destinations in Japan, and also designated as a national scenic spot and a prefectural natural park. Being located above the sea level, Nihondaira gives you the panoramic view of Suruga Bay, Mt. Fuji which was registered as a world heritage site in 2013, and Miho-no Matsubara, one of the three largest pine tree groves.

The view of Mt. Fuji from Nihondaira overlooking Izu Peninsula, Suruga Bay, Southern Japan Alps is exceptional which leaves an impression on all who view.  
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine
Kunozan Toshogu is the primary shrine dedicated to shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu built by his son, Tokugawa Hidetada by the request of his father, Ieyasu to enshrine at Mt. Kuno after his death in 1616. It was constructed in 1617 in the style of Gongen architecture with extravagant wood carvings, briliant colored decorations over black lacquer accented in gold, green, blue and other hues, and 13 structures of the shrine was designated as a National Treasure in 2010. After the Meiji era, the buildings of the Shrine is repainted once every 50 years to regain its original color at the time of the construction. 

This shrine is famous for power spots - places believed to bring visitors blessings and give you some special spiritual energy that heals or refreshes.

There is a museum attached to the shrine which worships Tokugawa Ieyasu. It has a number of collection of cultural assets, Japanese swords, armor and documents in his handwriting. 

Nihondaira Yume Terrace

 

The Nihondaira Yume Terrace has opened in November, 2018 at an altitude of 300 meters. This three-story building has the 360° open-air observation deck with 200m corridor which offers stunning views of Mount Fuji, Shimizu Port, Miho-no-Matsubara, Izu Peninsula, Southern Alps and Suruga Bay.

Also, there is a café and an exhibition floor with projection mappings and touch screen displays where visitor can learn about the history of Nihondaira and the surrounding area.


Yuishuku 
The Tokaido, the “Eastern Sea Road “ was the first post stations which runs about five hundred kilometers between the old imperial capital, Kyoto and Tokyo where the Shogun lived. These post stations were places where travelers could rest on their journey around the nation.

Yuishuku is the 16th post station among 53 post stations of the Tokaido path. This area is dotted with historical buildings which still retain its taste of nostalgia. Stroll through Yui Sakura Ebi Kan( Yui Sakura Shrimp Hall), Tokaido Hiroshige Art Museum Yui Honjin Park, and Miyukitei( Tea House) along the Tokaido path.
Why not try the Shizuoka’s specialties, fresh raw sakura shrimps and young sardines called shirasu caught in the Suruga bay. 

Tokaido Hiroshige Art Museum 
This museum is the very first museum in Japan to bear the name of world-famous ukiyo-e (woodblock prints) master, Utagawa Hiroshige. There are more than 1400 pieces of ukiyo-e works stored, along with special exhibitions and documents on displays which change every month.

Also, visitors have a chance to make own ukiyo-e prints which you can take back home as a souvenir. 

Seiken-ji Temple
Built around 1300 years ago, Seikenji Temple features a beautiful garden which was designated as a scenic spot of Japan. When Tokugawa Ieyasu was a child, he was sent to this temple as a hostage of the Imagawa Clan, and he was educated and studied at this temple. The shrine is consists of main building, big study room, reception room, and library.

Located on a scenic hill overlooking Suruga Bay, famous Japanese poets and novelists, Akiko Yosano, Soseki Natsume and Toson Shimazaki used to visit the temple.
